A Royal Favourite - Paeonia
Fans of Meghan Markle will already know that she has a particular fondness for the Peony.
Meghan regularly posted images of beautiful flowers on her now-deleted social media, in particular, pink Peonies which she has declared to be her all-time favourite.
One of the first gifts Meghan received from Prince Harry was a large bouquet of cream and pink Peonies which left the soon-to-be Princess ‘swooning’.
With this in mind, Peonies are rumoured to feature extensively in the floral arrangements for the Royal Wedding which will take place at the weekend. It has been announced that the floral displays will be made with seasonal foliage and flowers which are naturally blooming at this time of year.
While Meghan has a preference for the pink varieties such as the beautiful ‘Karl Rosenfeld’, the large and often double flowered Peonies also come in shades of red and white. They are known for being big and glamorous and superb as a cut flower, making them the perfect choice for the wedding. Harry and Meghan are expected to choose pastel pink and white shades to bring an element of spring romance.
The final design will aim to reflect Harry and Meghan as a couple, with plans for the floral decorations to be gifted to charitable organisations following the wedding. Sales of the fashionable peony are expected to blossom in the midst of the royal event.
Not only do they look superb as cut flowers, they are a charming addition to beds and borders and the epitome of the traditional cottage garden.
